Gastronomy, restaurants and bars
The French taste in Paris' restaurants
Paris is said to be the world capital for gastronomy because you can find here all the best food products. However, the Parisian's gastronomy is quite hard to define because Paris mixes every king of food and 'terroirs' from France and abroad.
| What we can say for sure is that Paris is the capital of the famous 'baguette', but also has a rich and diverse gastronomy: - cheeses like Brie, Coulommier - coocked meats like black blood sausage of Paris, saveloy of Paris, pâté of Houdan - bakeries and pastries like Paris-Brest, Opéra, rum baba, brioche of Nanterre, Saint-Honoré - mustards and vinegar - fruits like the cherry of Montmorency, Reine-Claude of Chambourcy (apple) - vegetables like asparagus of Argenteuil, mushrooms of Paris, watercress of Méreville - drinks like Noyau de Poissy (liqueur made of almond, apricots pits, Cognac and herbs), Grand Marnier ...and many more. |

Several places opened, where you could sample this drink and the most famous writers, authors, philosophers or actors attended those places. Cafés became strong places for political actions and debates. In the 19th century, cafés where people sung uprose. But all these cafés have always been haunts for every people looking for passionate discussions about poetry, art, philosophy and hopes for remaking the world.
